Pressings

What Is a Pressing?

A Pressing is a collectible digital edition released through Groovenod, inspired by the traditions of vinyl music culture.

The Pressing is the enduring object.Artists steward it.Owners carry it forward.

The Idea Behind a Pressing

The idea of a Pressing comes directly from vinyl music culture. For decades, collectors valued different pressings because they represented specific editions, release runs, moments in time, and relationships to the music.

Groovenod brings that same philosophy into the digital world.

Pressings give artists a way to create distinct editions with their own identity, purpose, and ownership experience.

Why Different Pressings Exist

Not every fan connects to music in the same way, and not every release serves the same purpose.

Some fans simply want a straightforward ownership edition of an album. Others want a release connected to a tour, a special moment, a limited edition, or a deeper relationship with the artist.

Different Pressings give artists a way to create those experiences intentionally.

What a Pressing Can Include

A Pressing can include much more than the music itself.

Depending on the artist and edition, a Pressing may include artwork, liner notes, ownership recognition, artist notes, Ownership Verified Artist Access, private rooms, special edition materials, and other experiences connected to the release.

Not every Pressing includes the same features, and artists decide how different editions are presented and experienced.

Some Pressings Continue to Evolve

Some Pressings are designed to continue evolving long after they are first released.

As artists continue to create, they may choose to add artist updates, private rooms, liner notes, benefits, events, and other owner-only experiences connected to a specific Pressing or edition.

Rather than attaching these experiences to followers or subscriptions, Groovenod connects them to the Pressing itself.

Over time, collectible editions such as Artist Pressings, Fan Pressings, and Tour Pressings may develop a richer history and a deeper relationship between the artist, the release, and the people who own them.

Studio Pressings serve a different purpose. They are designed to provide a straightforward ownership edition of a release and may not include the same evolving experiences or collectible characteristics as other Pressing types.

This allows some Pressings to become enduring collectible artifacts whose stories continue long after the music is first released.

Studio Pressings

A Studio Pressing is Groovenod's foundational ownership edition for an album or project.

It is designed for fans who want a straightforward ownership edition of a release without needing a limited edition, tour edition, or special artist-created version.

A Studio Pressing may remain available indefinitely and is generally non-transferable. It gives fans a simple way to own and keep the release as part of their Groovenod Collection.

Not every release is required to include a Studio Pressing. But when one exists, it serves as the core ownership edition of that release: the digital version most closely connected to the standard album or project itself.

Fan Pressings

A Fan Pressing is a transferable ownership edition designed for fans who want to participate more deeply in a release.

Fan Pressings are often available only during a defined issuance window. Instead of being limited by a fixed number of copies, they may become scarce because they were only available during a specific moment in time.

A Fan Pressing may represent an early edition, a special campaign, a fan initiative, or another artist-defined opportunity connected to a release.

For artists, Fan Pressings create a way to recognize and engage the people who choose to support their work more directly. For fans, they create a collectible connection to a specific release moment: something they chose to be part of while it was happening.

Tour Pressings

A Tour Pressing is a transferable ownership edition connected to a specific tour, event, appearance, or moment in time.

Tour Pressings are designed to preserve the relationship between the music and the experience surrounding it. They give artists a way to turn a live moment, special appearance, or tour chapter into something fans can collect and keep.

Tour Pressings are typically issued as numbered editions and may include unique tour artwork, inserts, notes, photographs, recordings, archival materials, or other content created specifically for that event, appearance, or release moment.

For artists, Tour Pressings create lasting editions tied to meaningful experiences. For fans, they become collectible reminders of where they were, what they saw, and the moments they chose to be part of.

Artist Pressings

An Artist Pressing is a transferable ownership edition created directly by the artist.

Artist Pressings are designed for the version of a release the artist wants fans to hold closest: the edition with the deepest intention, context, and personal meaning attached to it.

Artist Pressings are typically issued as numbered editions and may include unique artwork, custom presentation, liner notes, artist commentary, archival material, Ownership Verified Artist Access, or other artist-defined features created specifically for that edition.

For artists, Artist Pressings create space for greater creative freedom, context, and meaning. For fans, they offer a collectible connection to the artist's vision, process, and the stories surrounding the music.

In Short

Pressings give artists a way to release music with intention, and give fans a way to collect music with meaning.

Inspired by the traditions of vinyl culture, each Pressing carries a unique relationship between the artist, the release, and the people who choose to carry it forward.
